IN THE FUTURE, WHAT DEBRALEE HOVEY SAID WILL BE PRETTY MUCH MAINSTREAM

This has gotten a lot of attention:
Connecticut State Rep. DebraLee Hovey issued an apology Monday for telling former Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords to "stay out of" Newtown on her Facebook page....

Hovey, who represents Newtown and Monroe, posted a message Sunday telling Giffords to "stay out of my towns!!" a couple days after Giffords met with Senator Richard Blumenthal, Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman, and First Selectwoman Pat Lloadra at the Newtown Municipal Center. Shortly after the meeting, Giffords met with the families of the victims who were killed by a deadly shooting on Dec. 14 at Sandy Hook elementary school.
Attacking Gabby Giffords? What kind of inhuman monster could do that?

Well, get used to it -- or, at least, get used to attacks on Giffords's husband, Mark Kelly -- if the two of them are serious about this:
Former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and her husband Mark Kelly launched a website aimed at curbing gun violence Tuesday, the second anniversary of the mass shooting in Arizona that left her critically wounded.

"Two years ago, a mentally ill young man shot me in the head, killed six of my constituents, and wounded 12 others," Giffords wrote on the website. "Since that terrible day, America has seen 11 more mass shootings -- but no response from Congress to prevent gun violence."

The website, titled "Americans for Responsible Solutions", also features an opinion article that the couple penned, which was published by USA Today Tuesday.
That op-ed reads, in part:
Special interests purporting to represent gun owners but really advancing the interests of an ideological fringe have used big money and influence to cow Congress into submission.
So they must be destroyed.

Or at least mocked and marginalized, like the last D.C. couple who were politicized by a shooting that left one of them severely impaired:

(The latter image is from here. The quote, as this pro-gun site acknowledges, is fake, though that hasn't kept it from spreading like wildfire. And here are gunners commemorating Sarah Brady's birthday by imagining all the guns they'll buy and shoot, except for one guy who wants to send her a carton of cigarettes. She's a long-term survivor of lung cancer.)

Welcome to your future, Gabby and Mark. I hope you have the stomach for it.

Now, now, Steve, remember, these God-fearing, gay-hating, gun-toting Christians, are the Heartland Real 'Murkins, who believe that anyone to the left of them is a Commie Pinko F*ggot, who deserves to die, 'cause Jesus said that in The Old Testament, when he outlined his position on God, gay's, and guns, in his famous 'Sermon From The Pick-up With The Gun-mount,' right outside of Sodom and Gemorrah.

And apparently the Heartland reaches all the way to the north-of-Mason-Dixon east coast... hence the incumbency of La Hovey, not to mention the presence of that absurd arsenal at Chez Lanza. It'll be interesting to see whether Hovey gets re-elected, won't it?
